Body

Over 130 people attended the 2018 Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference on November 8-9 at St. Catherine University. The conference included 3 pre-conference workshops, a keynote by Abigail Potter from the Library of Congress Digital Labs, and 18 breakout sessions. Presenters posted handouts to their sessions here.

Most attendees were from Minnesota and the surrounding states, but some came from farther away states like CA, NY, and PA. The majority of attendees were from academic libraries and archives, but also from historical society and museum communities. 18 library and information studies students took advantage of the reduced registration rate, offered for the first time this year.

The conference opening reception was co-hosted with the ALA LITA Library Technology Forum at the beautiful Minneapolis Institute of Art reception hall, with over 200 people attending from our two conference groups. Reception guests were offered group visits to the library reading room. Janice Lurie, Library Director, introduced people to museum library services, and people browsed staff selected items from the collection.

The next conference will be held in 2020 in a location to be determined. If you're interested in hosting the conference in your city, contact Sara Ring (Chair, Planning Committee).
