Introducing information literacy skills with a post-apocalyptic game

The world has been brought to ruin by misinformation. Infrastructure has collapsed. Nations have disbanded.

So goes the premise of Information Fallout, a game to introduce key information literacy concepts. The game uses narrative to engage students in an exploration of six broad concepts aligned to ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.

The game is short; it takes about 20 minutes to complete. As such, we hope it proves useful as an introduction that you might combine with classroom discussion and activity to delve more deeply into the info lit concepts. We’ve devised some lesson plan ideas to provide examples of how you might integrate Information Fallout into a one-shot or other instructional setting.

Play Information Fallout today and help build a new information-literate world!
